Pro bono at Ashurst is considered a stand-alone legal practice. This practice works closely with, and along-side, the firm's Social Impact programme. We have had a global pro bono partner since the merger between Ashurst LLP and Ashurst Australia in 2013. Our global pro bono and social impact partner, Sarah Morton-Ramwell, aims for each of our offices to operate a national pro bono practice. Sarah also recognises the importance of taking on cross-border pro bono projects which enable our people across offices to work together to tackle global and regional social justice issues.
From time to time we recruit qualified lawyers into our dedicated pro bono team to work solely on pro bono matters, including liaising directly with clients and engaging our internal lawyers to assist with matters.
Please keep an eye on our vacancies page for when roles arise.
The Legal Analyst team is the core of the Advanced Delivery Services team of Ashurst Advance, and is dedicated to producing legal work for the firm and clients in the most efficient and economical way possible.
The role will give you great exposure to high quality commercial legal work and provide you with the opportunity to apply and develop your skills across a broader range of practice areas, clients and industries than what you would traditionally have access to in a legal role.
We look for people who are legally trained (you don't need to be a qualified lawyer) and recruit annually into Brisbane and Glasgow. Please follow the links for more information.
From time to time our offices hire paralegals. The specifics of the role may depend upon the location and the team you'll be working for, but in most instances you will work closely with the practice group and any fellow paralegals on transactions, disputes or projects.
Depending on the role, we usually look for people with legal training or experience, excellent attention to detail, a willing attitude to learn and work with a team to meet deadlines, and strong organisation and communication skills.
Please keep an eye on our vacancies page for when roles arise.

At Ashurst we take seriously our responsibility to ensure that everyone has access to legal advice and representation regardless of means. As a law firm, the most effective contribution we can make is to use our knowledge and expertise to assist people and community organisations through the provision of legal services.
Through our pro bono work we can support a person's human rights. We contribute to the not-for-profit organisations and social enterprises that provide support and dignity to people in need. We can bring about positive change for people who are disadvantaged.
We work closely with community-based legal and charitable organisations to understand the needs of our clients and to identify clients who are most likely to benefit from our services.
Pro bono at Ashurst is considered a stand-alone legal practice. This practice works closely with, and along-side, the firm's Social Impact programme. Pro bono is grounded in the ethics of professional responsibility and Ashurst's pro bono practice allows our lawyers to fulfil this obligation and give back to the community.
Ashurst is committed to creating a global pro bono practice and aims to do this by developing local pro bono programmes in each office in Ashurst's network and by developing cross-border pro bono projects which enable Ashurst's offices to work together to tackle global and regional social justice issues. We also set annual pro-bono targets for all lawyers globally, from partners to trainees, to help foster this commitment. -

Testimonials
"As a projects lawyer at Ashurst, I get to work on the most complex and city-shaping projects. I find it satisfying seeing my work turns into roads, metro stations, hospitals, airports, wind and solar farms, etc that get used by and benefit our communities. Lawyers in our team get "stretched" if they are willing, while senior lawyers are hands-on and will proactively make sure junior lawyers get enough guidance and support. Our people are down to earth, genuine and practical. While we take our work very seriously, we don't take ourselves too seriously. Hearing laughter from desks away is a constant occurance, and we work to create a relaxed and collegiate environment that promotes collaboration between colleagues and across offices."
Peitian Xia - Senior Associate, Projects & Energy Transition, Sydney
"Since beginning my career I have worked in a number of different jurisdictions throughout Asia Pacific, which has taught me to appreciate the importance of working within a cohesive global team, particularly within my specific area of practice, international arbitration. Working at Ashurst offers precisely that. Since joining the firm in May 2022, I have had the opportunity to work with colleagues across various offices on multi-jurisdictional matters, and effectively split my time between Singapore and Hong Kong. There is a true collaborative culture, where the best idea always wins, and where everyone works together to win the most interesting work and deliver the best results for our clients."
Sylvia Tee, Counsel - Dispute Resolution, Hong Kong/Singapore
