Building socially sustainable legal teams

spiral background

Cultivating a socially sustainable workforce is essential for organisations aiming to address the needs of the present while ensuring that future requirements are not compromised.

To explore how in-house legal teams can build socially sustainable workforces, Ashurst Reach – together with the Association of Corporate Counsel Australia – recently ran our third national roundtable series.

    Key insights

The report shares insights from the roundtables on approaches in-house legal teams can take to increase social sustainability:

    • Build a culture with clearly understandable and demonstratable values, which is underpinned by effective leadership and respect for employees outside interests.
    • Develop hiring practices which account for conscious and unconscious biases, and remove barriers so that all candidates hired are the best candidates for the role.
    • Foster approaches to personal development and training that are both inclusive and creative, and invest in both learnt and innate skills needed for today and tomorrow.
