David Wirth is Director, Economist in our antitrust, regulation and foreign investment and EU law practice
David is an industrialist economist with over 15 years of experience of advising clients on the economic analysis of all aspects UK and EU competition law, particularly in relation to mergers and acquisitions, market investigations, abuse of dominance and cartel cases. He has also published a number of professional articles on the subject.
He has acted for clients across a diverse range of industries including financial services, public transport, newspapers, betting, media, healthcare, supermarkets, pharmaceuticals, software, and producer and consumer goods, and has provided economic advice on cases in various jurisdictions across Europe and in Australia.
In the last 18 months, David has advised on a number of significant cases. These include advising Cardtronics in relation to its $464 million acquisition of DC Payments, which was cleared unconditionally by the CMA after a detailed Phase 2 investigation, and UHS in relation to its £377 million acquisition of the Adult Services Division of Cambian Group Plc, which was also cleared (subject to a single site divestment) following a detailed Phase 2 investigation. David has also recently advised Lloyds Banking Group on the CMA's retail banking market investigation.
