Yann Alix is a partner in our projects practice, head of our Africa Group
Qualified in England & Wales and in France, Yann specialises in corporate and commercial transactions as well as major project development in EMEA, with a focus on the energy, resources and infrastructure sectors.
He has particular expertise in emerging markets and across Africa, having worked in over 30 different African jurisdictions for a variety of clients, including energy and mining companies, funds, sponsors and governments.
Yann has significant expertise acting for international buyers and sellers on upstream mergers and acquisitions at both corporate and asset levels. His project development experience covers the full project life cycle, including advising on investment protection and corporate structuring, host state agreements, joint venture arrangements, as well as procurement, commercial, operational and ESG matters.
Yann is recognised in all key legal directories. He is described by Legal 500 as a "very commercial corporate partner with 'an unrivalled knowledge of the African market'".
He has also been designated "Mining Lawyer of the Year in the UK" in the Leaders in Law 2020 Global Awards and has been ranked amongst the top 50 lawyers for work in Africa by leading African publication Jeune Afrique in 2020. He is praised by clients for his "attention, responsiveness and exceptional knowledge of on-the ground, practical issues" and for providing "clear and sharp advice".
