Global law firm Ashurst has advised RES Australia (RES) on the agreement with Aula Energy to develop the Argoon Wind Farm project and on the sale of up to 100% of the project to Aula Energy.
The Argoon Wind Farm development project is located 20km north of Jerilderie NSW in the South West Renewable Energy Zone. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate clean renewable energy to power up to 430,000 homes in NSW annually.
Aula Energy was established by Macquarie Asset Management in 2023 as an Australian-headquartered renewable energy business to originate, develop, construct and operate renewable projects.
A separate Ashurst team assisted RES and Aula Energy with their joint application for access rights to connect to the network infrastructure subject to the South West REZ Access Scheme and to export electricity to the network.
Partner Murray Wheater said:
"We are delighted to have supported RES in facilitating the agreement with Aula Energy, Macquarie's onshore renewable energy platform, to develop the Argoon Wind Farm. The project will be a major step towards a renewable energy future in NSW."
The Ashurst team was led by partner Murray Wheater, who was assisted by: senior associate Rachel Werner and associate Gerard McGookin (Corporate Transaction); counsel Douglas Fung, senior associate Mike Webb, and associates Harrison Xu, Lauren Howe and Sally Judson (Projects & Energy Transition); and partner Maria Sun and senior associate Ashley Johnson (IP/Media).
