Hortense de Roux, litigation partner at Ashurst law firm in Paris, was elected President of HEC Alumni at the General Meeting on June 17, 2024, for a renewable one-year term.
“This appointment is a real vote of confidence from HEC Alumni. For the first time, the HEC Alumni Board of Directors has appointed a lawyer as President, and I am only the third woman to be elected to this position in the organization's 140-year history. I'd like to thank Adrien Couret who, during his three years in office, really worked to raise the profile of HEC, in particular by bringing together the three institutions - the School, the Foundation and the Association - and I'm delighted to be able to continue the work he's done,” emphasizes Hortense de Roux.
Hortense de Roux's main priorities include improving the quality of exchanges with alumni, in particular by working with class representatives, but also with HEC students on campus.
Hortense will also support the development of two of the association's pioneering initiatives: HEC UK House, a new home for the international community of HEC alumni based in London, and the HEC Ventures fund, which aims to finance the most promising start-ups launched by graduates of the school.
Finally, Hortense de Roux is keen to strengthen synergies between the HEC School, the HEC Foundation and HEC Alumni, so as to increase the impact of HEC and HEC Alumni on the economy and society.
A volunteer since 2008 and a member of the HEC Alumni board from 2014 to 2022, Hortense was once again elected to the HEC Alumni board in 2023, appointed Vice-President of the Association, and has also sat on the School's board of directors since that date.
With this appointment, Hortense de Roux leaves her functions within the Think Tank Grandes Ecoles au Féminin -GEF- which she has chaired since 2018.
Hortense, 42, is a graduate of HEC Paris (H05) and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (DEA Droit des Affaires et de l'Economie).
She has been a partner at Ashurst since 2018, where she heads the litigation department.
