Working to eradicate all forms of modern slavery through our Modern Slavery Action Plan
Our founder William Henry Ashurst and his four daughters (Elizabeth, Caroline, Matilda and Emilie) were progressive advocates, who were deeply committed to social justice, particularly women's equality and the abolition of slavery. As part of our Modern Slavery Action Plan we partner with not-for-profits in the anti-slavery movement and leverage our resources and stakeholders to supports efforts to eradicate all forms of modern slavery.

The Sophie Hayes Foundation works with women survivors of modern slavery and human trafficking to rebuild and develop the skills, confidence, and independence to help them achieve sustainable freedom.
We support their Conversational English for Independence (CEFI) courses through volunteers joining conversational English classes to engage with participants, helping them practice specific phrases or concepts where they need additional support and application. Enhancing participants' language skills and confidence. -

Hestia is the largest provider of modern slavery support in London and the South East.

We support their National Lived Experience Advisory Panel (LEAP), which comprises survivors aspiring to become future leaders in the sector by offering mentors who work with LEAP members to achieve their personal goals.

Starfish Project is a not-for-profit organization that cares for women escaping human trafficking and exploitation.

Starfish Project is a not-for-profit organization that cares for women escaping human trafficking and exploitation. Their Holistic Care Programme provides women with vocational training, health care, shelter, and counselling. They also provide real career opportunities through their social enterprise where women design and create jewellery and some become managers, accountants, graphic designers, and photographers. Starfish Project has employed over 200 women and has served thousands through our Community Outreach Services. Ashurst volunteers offer mentoring to these women through conversational and business level English skills training.
