Form the future of law

The Legal Analyst team is the core of the Advanced Solutions team of Ashurst Advance, and is dedicated to producing legal work for the firm and clients in the most efficient and economical way possible.

The role will give you great exposure to high quality commercial legal work and provide you the opportunity to apply and develop your skills across a broader range of practice areas, clients and industries than what you would traditionally have access to in a legal role. Every day is different as you work nationally and globally with other Legal Analysts, lawyers and clients on a range of litigious and transactional matters across a broad range of industries.

These roles are based in Glasgow and we offer two intakes annually that start in summer and early autumn.

Learning & Development

Apart from the legal and commercial skills you will develop in your day to day work with the practice groups and clients, you will also be provided support and training from the Legal Analyst Managers and access to the firm’s award winning Learning & Development programs.

The recruitment process

You will be required to submit an application including answering some short answer questions.

Once you have applied you will be immediately emailed a link to complete two aptitude assessments:

  • ‘Cognify’ – requires you to complete a series of online games measuring your problem solving and analytical skills.

  • ‘Emotify’ – requires you to complete two online games measuring your ability to accurately perceive emotions and effectively understand the connections between emotions, and situations that lead to specific emotional reactions.

The assessments only take circa 45-60 minutes to complete.

Prior to your interview you will need to complete a short, 1 hour technical assessment to gauge your ability to work on an everyday task that you'd come across in the role.

The interview will be conversational and is designed to assess the behaviours we’re looking for through competency-based questions. It’s also an opportunity for you to find out more about us, so please come prepared with your questions.

We aim to recruit, retain and promote the best people from the widest possible talent pools. We are committed to offering a safe and welcoming environment for all employees to ensure they are supported to work at their best.

If you require additional support or adjustments before submitting your application and during the recruitment process, please contact the Early Careers team.

Testimonials

Abbi Thompson

"I have had many different highlights at Ashurst, from completing challenging projects for our clients to some of my own personal achievements. However I would say some of my favourite highlights since becoming a Delivery Manager are seeing some of the career achievements of those in my team - helping them to develop their own technical knowledge, find their own passions and career pathways within the firm."

Gemma Brown

"When applying to university I knew that the traditional legal route of qualifying as a solicitor wasn't for me and wanted to do something different which was still law related hence why I chose to study BA Business Law instead of the LLB. I was attracted to the Legal Analyst role as it is a new role in the market which is constantly evolving, there are numerous opportunities to learn/progress, you get to work in a number of different practice areas; and you have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other high calibre graduates."
